Digital Skills Training for Adults

Restoring Dignity and Inclusion Through Technology

As the world becomes increasingly digital, many older adults in Cameroon are left behind—unable to connect, communicate, or access services that now depend on technology. At HighUpWeb Foundation, we believe that digital literacy is a basic right, not a privilege. That’s why we launched the Digital Skills Training for the Elderly program, to empower individuals aged 40 and above with the confidence and skills they need to participate fully in the modern world.

Millions of Cameroonians over the age of 40 have little to no experience using computers or navigating the internet. This digital exclusion can lead to social isolation, disconnection from family or community, barriers to essential services like healthcare and banking, and missed opportunities for learning and engagement. Through our free training initiative, we’re addressing these challenges head-on by creating inclusive, respectful learning environments tailored specifically for adult learners.

This training is completely free. Participants benefit from instructor-led sessions in small groups, free internet access during classes, a certificate of completion, and a welcoming environment where no prior tech knowledge is required.

Our elderly learners often arrive feeling hesitant but leave inspired. Some now use email to stay in touch with children abroad. Others manage mobile banking independently for the first time. Many say they feel reconnected to the world—with a new sense of self-worth and purpose.

The program is open to adults aged 40 and above, especially those in and around Yaoundé. It’s ideal for anyone who has been digitally excluded and wants to learn in a safe, supportive space.
