Rebuilding Lives
Through Technology and Opportunity
The ongoing crisis in Cameroon’s English-speaking regions has forced thousands of individuals and families from their homes, disrupting education, careers, and everyday life. Internally displaced persons (IDPs), many of whom have resettled in towns like Yaoundé and Douala, continue to face tremendous challenges, ranging from economic hardship and social exclusion to lack of access to basic services.
At HighUpWeb Foundation, we believe that technology can be a bridge to dignity, stability, and new beginnings. That’s why we launched our Free Digital Skills Training for IDPs, a compassionate, hands-on initiative to empower displaced youth and adults with the knowledge and tools they need to rebuild their lives.
For many IDPs, digital literacy can be life-changing. Without formal schooling or stable employment, access to technology becomes a vital stepping stone to accessing education, earning income, and staying connected with others. Our program creates a safe and inclusive space where participants not only learn how to use a computer but also begin to imagine a future beyond displacement.
Each training cycle offers a comprehensive introduction to essential digital skills tailored to real-life needs and opportunities. Participants learn the basics of computer operation, internet navigation, email communication, and digital safety. As they advance, they are introduced to practical tools like Microsoft Office, graphic design, digital marketing, web design, Database Administration, Cybersecurity and video editing. The program also covers how to access online learning platforms and explore remote work opportunities. Whether someone is touching a computer for the first time or aiming to build on existing skills, our dedicated instructors provide patient, hands-on support every step of the way.
The program is open to internally displaced persons aged 16 and above, with priority given to those from the North West and South West regions. Classes are held at our training center in Carrefour EMIA, Yaoundé, and all materials and internet access are provided free of charge. No prior computer experience is required, and sessions run on weekdays in both morning and afternoon shifts to accommodate different schedules.
We’ve seen firsthand how this program transforms lives. A young man who fled his village now earns money doing graphic design online. A mother who had never touched a keyboard now uses WhatsApp and Zoom to communicate with family and support her children’s education. These are not just stories of learning—they are stories of resilience, courage, and new hope.
If you are an internally displaced person looking for a way forward, this program is for you. Reach out to us via WhatsApp or visit our center to register. At HighUpWeb Foundation, we stand with you—not just to teach, but to help rebuild what was lost through knowledge, support, and the power of digital inclusion.
